As has become our custom, we present the Shakespeare Rankings for 2016 (Arden only). This year we also present the Shakespeare Big Nothings: the works of the Bard which have not sold a single copy in the past year. This year's Tragic Zeroes are The Two Noble Kinsman and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. As for the rankings:
In joint third place: Hamlet, King Lear, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet
In second place: The Tempest
and in first place, its debut in the top table: The Winter's Tale
We blame these results on the Hogarth Shakespeare Retold series, with well-received novels from Margaret Atwood (Hag Seed) based on The Tempest, and Jeanette Winterson (The Gap of Time) based on The Winter's Tale, doubtless pushing the numbers up for these two crackers.
