Winter Apéro Hour
Posted by Terry Glover
As the season changes, so does our palate. Along with the wind and rain and early nights comes an appetite for heavier, heartier food. To reflect this, we’re switching up our Apéro Hour menu – before every literary event at the Bookshop, you can pop into the café for a restorative bite, with lush flavours especially chosen to soothe, satiate and revive a body from the cold. Creamy autumnal cheeses, served on nutty rye; fried chorizo, sizzling from the pan; home-made houmous drizzled with smoky honey and topped with toasted caraway seeds; preserved cherries and roasted fruit, made into a rich, jammy compote.
We’ll be serving boozy spiced teas, organic Australian wines and non-alcoholic spirits, alongside samples of this year’s Christmas Cake to try. Let us know you’re coming when you book your event ticket, or just drop in – we’ll have candles lit and Terry’s tunes of the moment on the playlist for a perfect reset from the rest of the day.
