Martin Shaw’s ‘Mythteller’ trilogy - The Night Wages, Courting the Wild Twin and Smokehole – have won him many fans, including Jay Griffiths, who describes his work as combining ‘a magnificence of soul with a deft acuity of intellect’. A storyteller, mythologist and poet, Shaw’s latest collection, s t a g  c u l t (Hazel Press, 2022) lifts a lantern to a kind of haunting we can’t quite exorcise, or don’t wish to.
